Master Julio Cesar
Born on December 22, 1964, in the city of Rio de Janeiro, Julio Cesar Pereira discovered his passion for Jiu-Jitsu at the age of 10. His journey began in the Vila da Penha neighborhood, where he dedicated himself intensely for most of his career until he achieved the coveted black belt in 1974.
After 31 years of dedication to his black belt, in 2016 he received his Red and White 8th degree Jiu-Jitsu belt from the IBJJF, and is also a Judo Black Belt. A recognition of his mastery and commitment to the sport.
In addition to his personal achievements, Julio is a leader and mentor in the Jiu-Jitsu community. In 2007, he founded GFTeam (Grappling Fight Team), with its headquarters located in the Méier neighborhood, in the North Zone of Rio de Janeiro, which also has a fighters’ house called Cachanga to help athletes from humble backgrounds.
GFTeam is one of the most prestigious teams in the world of Jiu-Jitsu, producing champions such as Rodolfo Vieira, Mayssa Bastos, Gutemberg Pereira and Vitor Oliveira.
With branches in several countries, solidifying not only its own legacy, but also providing an environment of learning and growth for countless BJJ practitioners around the world.
Júlio César has been a key figure in the development and growth of BJJ as a whole. The founding of GFTeam has not only produced champions, but has also promoted the dissemination and popularization of the sport in various parts of the world.
Throughout his career, Master Julio Cesar has amassed an impressive resume of achievements, including:
- 21 x Rio de Janeiro State Champion
- 8 x National Champion
- South American International Master
- Champion (2018)
- 2 x IBJJF World Champion
His excellence on the mat is complemented by his skill as a coach, guiding his students to success in every competition. Master Julio Cesar sums up his tireless dedication to Jiu-jitsu and to the development of his students at GFTeam with one striking phrase:

It is with great honor that on August 2, at 6pm at Dream Fight Team, Gloucester, we will celebrate this graduation on a special night, where we will all have the opportunity to learn new things, and share the mat with a true legend of the sport, the master of Brazilian Jiu-jitsu: Julio Cesar of GFTeam.
